Meet Our Expert Therapy and Counseling Team
Vicky Hurlburt
Founder & CEO
I’m Vicky Hurlburt, MBA, a healthcare executive, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Positive Therapy FL.
With more than 10 years of experience in healthcare, my background brings together clinical education, operations, leadership, and business growth. As a foreign-trained healthcare provider with an MBA from Florida Atlantic University, I’ve led teams, supported large healthcare organizations, strengthened operations, and helped businesses grow through strategy, leadership development, and strong systems.
Positive Therapy FL was also born from a deeply personal journey. After my husband, Adam, and I lost our baby boy, Oliver, in 2020, we experienced firsthand how deeply grief can affect a family and how important compassionate mental health support can be during life’s hardest moments.
Positive Therapy FL became a way to honor Oliver’s memory and turn pain into purpose. Today, I combine my healthcare and business experience with that personal mission to help build a practice where people feel seen, supported, and cared for—and where strong clinical teams can create meaningful, lasting impact.
Adam Hurlburt
MS, LMFT, Founder | Couples & Family Therapist
Hi, I’m Adam Hurlburt.
I specialize in helping couples and families strengthen their relationships, improve communication, and better understand the patterns that can create distance, conflict, or disconnection over time.
Much of my work focuses on couples with children, where relationship challenges are often closely connected to parenting stress, changing roles, emotional burnout, communication breakdowns, and the demands of family life. I help couples move beyond recurring arguments and begin understanding what is happening underneath them so they can rebuild trust, connection, and partnership.
My background in family therapy allows me to look beyond the couple alone and understand the larger family dynamic. I also work closely with parents and families of adolescents to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and create healthier patterns at home.
I support clients navigating relationship conflict, trust concerns, parenting challenges, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and major life transitions. My approach is practical, compassionate, and focused on helping clients create meaningful changes that carry into everyday life.
Beyond the therapy room, I value time with my own family and understand firsthand how relationships evolve through different stages of marriage, parenting, and family life.

Maria Alayza
PhD, LMHC, LMFT, NCC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor • Marriage & Family Therapist
Leading Clinician – Maternal Wellness Program
I am Dr. Maria Alayza—a bilingual therapist (English & Spanish) deeply committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s most meaningful and challenging seasons. With a doctoral degree in counseling and dual licensure, I take a warm, holistic, and relational approach to the healing process.
My PhD research centers on post-traumatic growth after pregnancy loss. This is an area close to my heart and one that guides my role at Positive Therapy FL, where I am proud to lead our Maternal Wellness Program, supporting women through postpartum emotional challenges, fertility-related stress, pregnancy loss, and the emotional transitions of motherhood.
In addition to maternal mental health, I specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, couples counseling, and family dynamics. In every session, I strive to create a space where my clients feel seen, safe, understood, and supported, where change feels possible and growth can gently emerge.
Outside the therapy room, I enjoy staying connected to my cultural roots and focusing on my wellbeing through personal practices and by spending meaningful time with my loved ones. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to support clients on their journeys as they heal, rediscover their strength, reconnect with themselves, and move toward meaningful transformation.
